Andalucìa GP – Top10 for MV Agusta Forward Racing team
The one-two at the Jerez circuit ends with the first Top10 of the season for MV Agusta team in the Moto2 World Championship. Stefano Manzi led a comeback race. Starting from 19th position he managed to recover 10 positions, crossing the finish line 9th, not only confirming last week’s excellent result, but improving further. Stefano is showing great growth both personally and as a rider. Simone Corsi, on the other side of the box, immediately gained positions at the start, closing the first lap 15. Due to a loss of engine power, Corsi had to prematurely stop his race on lap 19. The team is already working to remedy the technical problem and restart the next race from the excellent results achieved during yesterday’s qualifying. The team is ready to return home, where work will continue in order to be even stronger at the fourth round of the season, in Brno on 7, 8 and 9 August.
Stefano Manzi – Raider #62 P9
“It was a beautiful race. I was already convinced I could do well after the Warm-up, even though I wasn’t very fast. This weekend was warmer than last one and I suffered a bit more, but I managed the race well. The bike was pretty good and these factors allowed me to reach the ninth position. Towards the end I found myself in the middle of a small group where we had a bit of a fight and I was able to finish second in that group. I am very happy with this TOP10 and we hope to continue in this direction for the next GPs. I want to thank the whole team for the great work they have done and our sponsors who support us”.
Simone Corsi – Rider #24 DNF
“After a good weekend, where I was feeling pretty good, I couldn’t find the same harmony with the bike today in the race. I had little grip at the rear; I didn’t get off to a bad start until I had the problem with the engine power. I would say that now we have to work at our best to return to Brno with the conditions we had reached until yesterday”.
MILENA KOERNER – TEAM MANAGER
Terza gara, terza volta a punti.
“It’s been a day of mixed emotions. I’m certainly very happy for Stefano who has once again demonstrated his great fighting spirit. He recovered 10 positions in the race and showed once again that the race pace is much more competitive than the fast lap. Third race, third time in points. This bodes well for the next round at Brno. Simone on the other hand, who had really improved a lot this weekend, was unable to reap the benefits of the great work done as he had to return to the box prematurely due to a technical problem. Now we will analyze all the data to understand why the bike lost power. These 2 weeks at Jerez have been very intense and I want to thank the whole team for the great work they have done. I also thank all the sponsors for their support and confidence”.
