Qatar, Losail: the last "pre-season" tests for Simone Corsi and Lorenzo Baldassarri at the "Losail International Circuit" have officially ended. The test in Qatar was the first real exchange between all the riders of the intermediate class with the bikes already in race configuration.
Lorenzo Baldassarri, in his third test with his new team, took advantage of these days to get more confident with his MV Agusta F2, trying different setups and working on his riding style. The rider from Marche set a best time during the third day of 1:58'731. "We started from the sensations we had at Jerez and adapted them to the Qatar track, we worked on weight balance and geometry. We had to align the bike setup part with the electronic setup part and I think we achieved a good overall starting balance," says his chief engineer, Vareschi. Baldassarri completed 109 laps, making the most of the kilometres available for this three-day event.
Simone Corsi, on the other side of the box, mostly carried on with development. On the first day he debuted with a good time of 1:59'762, which immediately created positive feelings. "Simone has the potential to have a good race pace, and this was already demonstrated on the first day. Subsequently variables such as yesterday's wind and a crash on the first lap of today's last session have significantly compromised the results on track. Despite this, we have positive results that show that we are on the right path”, says technical manager Noccioli.
The progress from last year to today is evident; the riders, in fact, have been performing better than in 2020.
In just five days' time, the first red light of the long-awaited 2021 World Championship will finally go out, with FP1 set for Friday, 26 March, 12:45pm Italian time.
